Funny, when I first came to Michigan in 1985 Dougs was rated 5.10+. sometime later a key section broke off revealing some easier holds.Doug s was then rated 5.9 Later another piece fell  and dougs was once again 5.11.

I have stopped trying to follow the ratings of dougs as it could be different today than it was yesterday. so just go out and have a lot of fun grappling with the beast of the ledges.

It's all about the "horn" hold...the hold thats on intimidator.  if you use the horn and take the verbal abuse from dave and the old-timers i think its easier 10 at the park...w/o the horn the section become tougher and goes to 10+ or so...you got to love eliminates

5.10 even if you don't "use the horn, Luke"

Climbed it for the 500th time today. It's still a 10 in my book. I brought another newbie who climbs v3's and 4's and he struggled. Just makes me smile. If it was bolted in the Red it would be a 10c.

if it was bolted at the red it would be 5.11b
think about it, nearly all 5.10's at the red have no crux whatsoever

technical climbing areas like grand ledge should get onsight ratings

since ive seen like 2 people onsight dougs ever, it should be rated 5.11b

 climbers that have climbed all over the country agree

@spiderman

Yeah, but the Red has some of the softest ratings I've ever climbed anywhere. I've climbed a 10c there that had to be a 9, tops. And having climbed an 11b there, and having onsighted Doug's, I feel like it's definitely not 11b, even by the Red standards. I'd call it a 10, maybe 10b at the highest.
