Well this is certainly a odd happening. Mike Hood tried so hard to get the ledges closed down a few years back. He did a lot of things to stop climbing at Grand Ledge. He said tht climbers were damaging the walls and here he is advertising on his website that he will guide mid week at Grand Ledge. here is what I call a hypocrite.

I understand venting, but maybe we should try to keep this site about the rocks, and climbing rather than name calling or negativity.

I for one have not seen the man for years now. If he is going, it's not often or prime weekends.

I remember Mike as a pretty decent guy. He had a lot of respect for the park. He has done his share of work to make that place what it is today and he was always fun to have a beer with at the end of the day. He was just a part of a pretty diverse group of folks that were regulars back when I climbed at the Ledges several times a week. Back in the days when The Pirates flew their flag from the trees at the edge of the river. If you were there, you know what I'm talking about!

FYI, Michael Hood and Vertical Ventures stopped offering guiding services at Oak Park in 2005.

Mike recently mentioned to me that his website is just out of date, and that he doesn't offer services at Oak Park. I haven't heard any reports of people seeing his company there in years now...
