I am looking to start climbing again.  I have some equipment and such but definitely need a little help.  It's been a while since I have climbed.  If anyone that has some experience and is willing to lend a helping hand that would be great.  My e-mail is tshea78@yahoo.com.  Shoot me a message.

Thanks
Tim

Myself and 2 of my friends are new to climbing.  We have harness, a caribeener, and a belay device and have been to planet rock a few times.  We don't have rope yet.  Is there going to be anyone climbing tomorrow or in the next few days?  We would like for someone to show us how to properly rig the rope and fill us in on what we need to buy.  Also, if we could try climbing on their rope a couple times, that would be great.

Thanks,

Brad

anyways...eat walnuts or some sort of food with fat with your sugar. despite what the west says, diabetes is nothing but a diet related issue. we all need fat to help digest food.

There are no real stores nearby, Moosejaw Mountaineering is 25 minutes away.  You need as much gear as ropes you plan to toss.  Webbing usually does the job.  The most popular climbs have relatively short distances between the anchor and lip.  All you do is connect the webbing ends with a water know, ie retrace overhand, and girth hitch it around a tree.  Repeat process on another tree.  Use 2 caribineers to connect webbings and drop rope.  You MUST use carpet on the lip of the edge to protect the rock.  You can turn the webbing around the base of the tree to shorten it...retying takes forever and wnot make it exact anyway.  You can also just use other peoples ropes.

I don't suppose anyone could post a picture of a typical tree slung top rope setup. I am going to be visiting Grand Ledge in July from Tucson and am an ignorant sport climber with no experience in setting up top rope on anything other than cold shuts and chains. Also, is there a place near by to buy gear for a top rope setup?

Hello Climbers:
Check out the new some-what gym in south lansing.  Go to the blog if there is any interest for the summer, winter or even now.

http://lansingbouldering.blogspot.com/

Let me know what everyone thinks.  Possibly opening to the public soon if there is a demand.
